July 4, 2008 Independence Day This day marks the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the day that the American colonies decided that they would no longer tolerate being ruled by a foreign king imposing arbitrary, excessive taxation on the populace. It signifies all the great historic roots of our country: independence, freedom, and limited government. Let us all thank God that we live in such a wonderful country as this, and that our founding fathers had the guts to stand up for what they believed in, even if it meant war. |
